PSNI car crashes into Lisburn shop while responding to emergency call

A police car has pulled into a Lisburn shop while responding to an 911 call.

The crash happened just after 11.35am on Longstone Street on Wednesday.

The vehicle had swerved to avoid a collision with another car being driven by a member of the public.

No one was injured in the incident, however a local Spar supermarket was damaged.

A woman who entered the store seconds before the accident narrowly avoided being hit by the police vehicle.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward.

“Just after 11.35am today, Wednesday 21 September, a police vehicle was involved in a road traffic accident on Longstone Street, Lisburn,” a spokesman said.

“The driver of the police vehicle was responding to an emergency when he had to swerve to avoid a collision with a vehicle being driven by a member of the public.

“Damage was caused to business premises but fortunately no injuries were reported at this time.

“An investigation is being conducted to determine what happened and anyone who witnessed the collision or may have captured it with their dashcam is asked to call the police on non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 635 dated 21/09/2022 to call ”
