One of the last games of the NFL regular season was played last night between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.
Even though both teams went into the game 8-8, it had a BIG impact on the playoffs as the Packers had to defeat the Lions to reach the playoffs.
Unfortunately, the Packers’ effort fell short as they lost 20-16.
The weight of the game might not have been the night’s biggest story, however, as most heads were on Packers’ rookie inside linebacker Quay Walker when he was spotted shove a Detroit coach who just came in to help an injured player.
It was a classless move to say the least, despite the fact that it was a heated, high-impact game and emotions ran high.
Pushing a defenseless person walking in to help someone looks pretty bad, especially considering medical trainers were the ones who were able to save Bill’s safety Damar Hamlins life last monday.
Walker was soon kicked out of the game and was visibly upset after the move, as seen in this video of him walking into the dressing room:
That being said, Walker also tracked his actions as best he could.
He sent this heartfelt apology via Twitter:
“I would like to publicly apologize for what happened on Sunday night. I acted out of my emotions again and take full responsibility for another stupid decision.
Since then I’ve wondered why I did what I did when the coach was doing his job!! I was wrong!!”
“I understand that I have to face everything that comes with the decision I made and I’m definitely paying for it now.”
“Also to explain my frustration in the tunnel. I wasn’t upset about getting kicked out, I just knew I screwed up again and was wrong about what I had done and I couldn’t believe I had done it again.
To the Detroit Lions and to the entire coaching staff including the person I also made. I’m sorry”
As bad as the scene was, you have to respect a guy who recognizes his wrongdoing and readily apologizes for it.
That being said, with two incidents in one season…you need to fix it FAST if you want to stay in this league.
