Authorities arrested rapper Young Thug Monday and charged him with two gang-related charges, officials said.
They arrested him as part of a 56-count Georgia grand jury indictment involving 28 members of the label Young Stoner Life Records, founded by Young Thug, WSB-TV reported.
According to the report, Young Thug, a 30-year-old Atlanta rapper born Jeffery Lamar Williams, has been charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and alleged involvement in street gang activities.

The charges stemmed from separate incidents, with the RICO law charge stemming from an incident in 2013 and the gang activity charge stemming from a 2018 incident, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Fellow rapper and YSL member Gunna was also arrested and faces charges of conspiracy to violate RICO, court documents showed.

Prosecutors allege in the indictment that YSL was collaborating with the Bloods gang and highlighted numerous incidents involving the gang that span years and involve criminal acts, AJC reported.
One of those incidents involved Young Thug renting a car and ordering the murder of a rival gang member, prosecutors allege in the indictment.

Williams defense attorney Brian Steel said the rapper will deny the allegations.
“I will give you the answer to every accusation; Mr. Williams has committed no crime and we will fight to the last drop of my blood to acquit him,” Steel said said WSB TV.
Young Thug is a Grammy-winning rapper who has had a major influence in the Atlanta area. He’s also built a national following and regularly bumps into other popular names, including recent song appearances with Cardi B and Elton John.

The rapper has a criminal record, including an arrest in 2016 on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court, an arrest in 2017 on drug charges including possession of meth, hydrocodone and marijuana, Atlanta-based Fox 5 reported.
He was committed to the Fulton County Jail.
