So says Dani Carvajal, who admitted Los Blancos were “overwhelmed” by City’s strong performance on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium as they clinched a 4-0 win.
Spain full-back Carvajal was given a tough time by Jack Grealish and said after the final whistle that Real had allowed his opponents to dominate them before insisting the 14-time winner used the defeat as motivation for another challenge next year will use.
“We can see City were better, we were missing something,” he said.
“It wasn’t the attitude that we lacked, but we let ourselves be put under too much pressure. We had our best moments in the second half.
“We knew City are very strong at home but after the first leg we felt we could be better here – better on the ball.”
“We are Madrid; We’ll come back stronger and work really hard next season to be back at that stage of the tournament.”
