Real Madrid meet Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium on Wednesday 10 August.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, meanwhile, believes Frankfurt have the upper hand in the UEFA Super Cup. Elsewhere, Cesc Fabregas has revealed he wanted Barcelona to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the key Real Madrid transfer stories on August 4, 2022:
Eintracht Frankfurt will have the upper hand in the UEFA Super Cup, says Carlo Anelotti
Carlo Ancelotti believes Eintracht Frankfurt are ahead of Real Madrid in their preparations for the upcoming UEFA Super Cup. The Italian will look to outmaneuver the Bundesliga side next week to add another trophy to his packed cabinet.
Ahead of the game, Ancelotti praised Frankfurt with UEFA.
“We have a few more disadvantages than Eintracht, who start the season earlier, but we will play to win. We look ahead and not back. Last year’s victories confirm our conviction, but we have to focus on the upcoming games. There are six titles at stake next season and we want to fight for all of them,” said Ancelotti.
“Eintracht did something special last year because they weren’t among the favourites. They played great games and won against Barcelona at Camp Nou by playing counter-attacking football that put a lot of emphasis on defense and fast transitions.”
The Italian praised his summer signings and also paid tribute to the players who have left.
“I think we have two players who are among the best in the world in their roles. First of all, their quality increases the physical and technical capability of the team. Then there is (the need to adapt to the group, and the group adapts to them a little bit,” Ancelotti said.
He hopes the new players will step up, adding:
“We must not forget that the three who left, Marcelo, Isco and Bale, have made history for this club in recent years, so all of Real Madrid is grateful to these players. We hope the newcomers can repeat the exploits of those who left.”
Cesc Fabregas wanted Barcelona to sign Aurelien Tchouameni
Cesc Fabregas has revealed he advised Barcelona to sign Aurelien Tchouameni this summer. The France midfielder joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in June.
Speaking to Cadena Cope, Fabregas said that the Blaugrana couldn’t sign the 22-year-old due to their financial constraints.
“It’s very difficult to win again. They (Real Madrid) have strengthened very well. I know Tchouameni. I’ve spoken to Barca people so they can sign him. He seemed like a brilliant player for the future but they couldn’t sign him for economic reasons,” said Fabregas.
“I gave my opinion to another ex-team and in the end they went with the ‘enemy’. It is important to take advantage of these market opportunities.”
Real Madrid try to hijack Atletico Madrid, substituting for Iker Bravo
According to AS via Madrid Universal, Real Madrid are trying to hijack Atletico Madrid’s move for Iker Bravo. The Bayer Leverkusen forward has already reached an agreement with the Rojiblancos to join Wanda Metropolitano. However, the Spaniard could end up at the Santiago Bernabeu instead.
Los Blancos have always had their eye on the country’s brightest talents and now have their sights set on Bravo. The 17-year-old attracted attention in the Leverkusen youth team last season. If a move comes about, he is likely to spend time at Castilla before being promoted to the first-team.
