Real reason he waited 10 years to propose

Prince William and Kate only got engaged after being together for almost 10 years.

However, one expert has said it’s not because he was insecure or had cold feet.

Essentially, he asked Kate to “wait 10 years” for a reason, earning her the nickname “Waity Katie.”

William and Kate news: Why did he wait so long to propose?

Royal expert Tina Brown told Australia’s Women’s Weekly that William is sure to love Kate.

However, he had to make sure she could cope with the realities of royal life, it has been claimed.

“Because he knew how extraordinarily difficult it was to live in this institution of the monarchy, for two reasons,” she claimed.

William understood the intonations. He had seen his mother collapse from it.

Brown called one as “the limitations and constraints and the need to live in this artificial way most of the time.”

The second, she claimed, is because “the test is unrelenting.”

More than that, she said it will “never end for your whole life.”

Diana’s influence

She claimed he looked at how his late mother dealt with being part of the royal family and learned from it.

“William understood the pressures. He had seen his mother collapse from it. He didn’t want his wife to be someone who couldn’t handle it,” she claimed.

William’s brotherly advice to Harry

The argument between William and his brother Prince Harry before his marriage to Meghan Markle is well documented.

It is alleged that William told Harry: “You shouldn’t marry Meghan, you should wait”.

However, Brown claimed that he did not quite articulate what he meant by that.

“He got a lot of criticism from Harry, but people around William told me he just wanted to say, ‘Give her more time to understand what she’s getting into.'”

In fact, Meghan said in her interview with Oprah, “I had no idea what I was getting myself into.”

And Brown, like Kate, thinks Meghan would have benefited if she had had more time to understand “what it would get out of her.”
