A 12-year-old girl who had been tied up and left in a suitcase was found dead by Paris police last week.
The girl was found with the numbers “1” and “0” on her body. The numbers were “put on her” by a “device,” a police source said, indicating they were not cut into her or drawn on her, according to the Independent.
Police said they don’t know what the numbers mean.
The girl was found with multiple lacerations to her throat. Her feet and wrists were tied. Her face was covered with duct tape.
Officials said a post-mortem revealed the girl died of asphyxiation.

The girl was reported missing on Friday afternoon when she failed to return from school.
Her mother, whose name has been given as Delphine, had posted a social media alert on Friday, which read: “Our daughter Lola was last seen at our home at 3:20pm accompanied by a woman we do not know,” so the Daily Post.

According to Fox News, police received a call around 11:30 p.m. Friday about a suitcase found a few blocks from the girl’s apartment.
Police said when they searched the basement of the building where the girl lived there were indications a kidnapping may have taken place.
Surveillance camera footage shows the girl, identified only as Lola, walking behind a woman into the building where she lives, according to the Mail, which witnesses said was later carrying a suitcase.
The woman was arrested along with her sister on Saturday.
A resident of the area where the girl lived told French broadcaster BFMTV the suspect was seen two hours before Lola’s disappearance, the Mail reported.
“We saw her walking into the building, she was all alone … we saw her half an hour later with a suitcase, she talked a bit to everyone, she seemed a little crazy,” the witness said.
“She was struggling to carry the suitcase, we thought it was because the items were heavy and she was quite slim – we never thought it was a corpse,” he said.
“It was 5 p.m. and she was walking around with this suitcase, she even left it in front of a cafe and went to the bakery across the street to buy a croissant like nothing happened,” the witness said.
Police believe the suitcase the woman was seen with at the girl’s home was the same one in which the girl’s body was found.
According to Fox News, four people are in custody, including a man who found the suitcase on Friday.
