Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston reunite at Gogglebox

The pair played married couple Jim and Barbara Royle on the sitcom, which aired between 1998 and 2000 and five specials thereafter.

It has been more than a decade since the last special aired in December 2012 and now they will be among the guests commenting on the week’s TV deals.

As reported by The mirrorSpeaking ahead of his appearance on the show, Ricky said, “When it first aired, Gogglebox was called ‘the real Royle family,’ so this comes full circle: Sue and I are back together, in front of the box!”

The Royle family already has links with glasses boxas Caroline Aherne, who played Denise Royle, was the narrator before she died of cancer in 2016 at the age of 52.

Since then, Craig Cash, who also starred as Dave Best on the sitcom, has provided narration.

Ricky and Sue will join returning stars Zoe Ball, Johnny Ball and Woody Cook, Denise Van Outen and Duncan James, and Shaun Ryder and Bez in the new series.

Comedian Katherine Ryan will also appear alongside her husband Bobby Koostra.

Katherine She also recently revealed that her days as a single mom to daughter Violet, 13, who she had with a previous partner, were among her happiest and that she was “quite nervous.” She may never regain that feeling after the birth of her 23-month-old son Fred. and daughter Fenna, five months, with Bobby.

She said: “I was really happy with my daughter.

“I’m not one of those mothers who needs a break from their children, I want to be with them as much as possible.

“Well, now they kind of annoy me because there are three of them – but when Violet was little she never bothered me.

“She was my best friend, the love of my life. Actually I’m quite nervous because my decade of being a single mom to Violet was struggling and poor… . . I worry this may have been the best time of my life.”
