WWE has announced the punishment of Ronda Rousey for assaulting a referee at SummerSlam after a controversial ending to her match.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet collided with Liv Morgan at the Premium Live Event for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. During the fight, Rousey locked the latter in a submission move and the referee made the three count when their shoulders were on the mat. Morgan tapped out at the same time before the end of the game, but the official didn’t see it.
The former UFC bantamweight champion wasn’t at all happy with the result, so she locked Liv Morgan in the armbar. When the referee tried to break the grip, she took out the official and locked him in the armbar as well, twisting her heel as she did so.
WWE recently announced on Twitter that Ronda Rousey was fined and suspended for assaulting the officer. It is currently unknown how long the ban will last.
Liv Morgan became the first woman in WWE to have two pinfall wins over Ronda Rousey
At WWE Money in the Bank, the 28-year-old star cashed her briefcase, which she won earlier that night, on Ronda Rousey and pinned it to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. This is the first title Morgan has held in her entire wrestling career.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet was first pinned at WrestleMania 35 during a triple threat match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. It was the first women’s fight to lead the biggest stage of all.
After losing to Liv Morgan at The Biggest Party of the Summer, the former became the first person to have two pinfall wins over Rousey. It will be interesting to see who her new challenger will be.
