Royal news – latest: Camilla expected to be crowned queen at the coronation, not queen

Cheltenham: Queen Consort Camilla arrives for Ladies Day
It seems to have been confirmed that Camilla will be known as Queen at the coronation instead of Queen Consort.
The Coronation Edition of the Bible is about to be published and only names Camilla as “Queen”.
Accordingly The mirror, the coronation edition of the Bible says: “In commemoration of the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III. and Queen Camilla. Inside St Peter’s Abbey, Westminster. The sixth of May 2023.”
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are expected to “miss” the prestigious red carpet event, the Met Gala, due to ongoing “family drama.”
Sources have hinted that Harry and Meghan will be reluctant to perform at the May 1st event as it will take place just five days before King Charles’ coronation on May 6th.
It comes as Sarah Ferguson has said that Meghan is giving Harry a “love he’s never had before”.
In a new interview for her romance novel, Ferguson, 63, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, said she would never “judge” Harry’s decision to step down from royal duties and move to America.
The couple have said they received “email correspondence” about the coronation on May 6, but have not announced their decision on whether to attend.
Camilla could be crowned queen rather than queen at the coronation
It has been speculated that after the coronation, Camilla will only be known as the Queen instead of the Queen Consort.
This appears to be confirmed as a coronation edition of the Bible is set to be published and Camilla is referred to only as “Queen”.
The name Queen Consort is given to a King’s spouse rather than the Queen Regnant, who is the female monarch.
It had previously been assumed that she would be known as the Princess Consort after her husband’s accession.
Accordingly The mirror, the coronation edition of the Bible says: “In commemoration of the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III. and Queen Camilla. Inside St Peter’s Abbey, Westminster. The sixth of May 2023.”
There were many changes in royal titles following Charles’ accession to the throne, including William becoming Prince of Wales and Prince Edward assuming the defunct Philips title of Duke of Edinburgh.
It comes as the Sussex children, Lilbet and Archie, are now officially known as Princess and Prince, as their grandparent, Charles, is now a monarch.

The Met Gala takes place on May 1st, just five days before King Charles’ coronation on May 6th.
Jordan James, CEO of Unlocked PR, said The mirror: “It would certainly not come as a huge surprise if they were snubbed given their current status within the royal family and the drama that ensued.”

The upcoming coronation is expected to be a “slimmed-down” version of the royal engagement, with the ceremony lasting just over an hour and the guest list slashed from 8,000 to 2,000.
There will also be dress code updates, with a more relaxed dress code that would potentially allow peers to wear lounge suits or morning suits rather than the luxurious crimson velvet and ermine ceremonial robes that are expected to apply.
