New Orleans Saints fans are in a fragile situation right now.
Many of the die-hard New Orleans natives are still grappling with back-to-back losses of the only Super Bowl winner, Saints quarterback Drew Brees, as well as the franchise’s greatest head coach of all time, Sean Payton.
2022 was a season of injuries, self-inflicted mishaps and a general lack of discipline when it came to the fundamentals. After putting everything together to claim a win in Week 1, the Saints didn’t look like themselves for much of the remainder of the season; and when they found things out it was still too little, too late.
So now we’re heading into an off-season where Dennis Allen will remain in the head coaching position, but the Saints will have to make some tough decisions as they try their best to hold on to what’s been working well and move away from Separating the parts that worked well weren’t great for the team.
Will the Saints replace Jameis Winston after he didn’t see a full season at the starting quarterback position in three years? If so, who will be at center for a Saints offense that was dismal at best last season?
Is Andy Dalton really the answer? If not, who are we following? Will our next QB be drafted? Do we have any good tips at all?
It seems like a recent change in Michael Thomas’ contract would signal that the Saints will most likely pull from the superstar receiver, who has been amazing when healthy – but unfortunately health hasn’t been up since the first week of the 2020 season the side of MT .
As you can see, the Saints seem to have a lot more questions than answers, and I haven’t even scratched the surface of Sean Payton’s trading situation. With this kind of mess, it makes perfect sense that some Saints fans would freak out over Alvin Kamara’s latest IG story.
Along with a handful of others like Taysom Hill, Cameron Jordan and Demario Davis, Alvin Kamara was one of the Saints players who not only give us hope, but continue to play at a high level despite a few flaws surrounding them.
For this reason, some fans were alarmed when Kamara posted a photo on his Instagram story showing his locker cleared out. AK also dotted the photo with two shrug emojis — a pretty vague move that could mean literally anything.
While some fans may see the shrug emojis as Kamara clears his locker for a possible transfer to another team, it more than likely means he’s clearing his locker and the disappointing season that just ended with one shrug off.
For what it’s worth, AK just put together its 6th straight season with 1,300 or more all-purpose yards. Even with an all-time low in TDs last season, Kamara has still put up impressive numbers from scrimmage — just as he has in all six seasons he has been with the Saints.
Also, Kamara recently appeared on a podcast and spoke about the uncharacteristic feeling of losing this season, and his tone wasn’t that of someone pointing fingers or blaming any outside factors for the lack of production.
In a recent episode of the A Suite Life podcast, Kamara really stressed responsibility, and even through a challenging season, he has never shown any sign of frustration with the team or the Saints organization.
Perhaps the most telling sign that Kamara really loves where he is in New Orleans is the fact that he’s bought a large amount of land in one of New Orleans’ most notorious neighborhoods. something that tells me he’ll stay in the 504 as long as they’re willing to have him.
So should we be worried about Kamara leaving New Orleans? I’m not saying it can’t or never will happen, but a photo of his empty locker on IG is nothing to lose sleep over.
Especially since he was probably just too busy to clean up with everyone else earlier.
Kudos to AK, and I look forward to seeing the Saints put the pieces around Kamara this offseason that will maximize his potential and help us put more Ws on the board next season.
