Or perhaps Samsung Galaxy S series fans are watching the leaks closely and wondering whether they should upgrade from their older phones.

Samsung Galaxy S24 release date

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Rumor has it that there will be a release date sometime in January or February next year. Take a look at the release dates of its predecessors:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21: January 29, 2021

  • Samsung Galaxy S22: February 25, 2022

  • Samsung Galaxy S23: February 1, 2023

The Galaxy S23 series was revealed on Galaxy Unpacked on February 1st, and while the Samsung Galaxy S24 could also be unveiled in early February, there’s a new rumor from the South Korean outlet The electric denies this.

The publication states that Samsung plans to choose an earlier release date for the Galaxy S24 series. How much earlier? The South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning to push back the date by a month, meaning we may see the next-generation flagship phone line in January 2024.

Price of the Samsung Galaxy S24

There haven’t been many leaks about Samsung Galaxy S24 pricing, but there’s one thing I should note before addressing the whispers we’ve been hearing. Accordingly The electricSamsung has considered removing the Plus model from its range. Why? To put it bluntly, buyers tended to buy either the cheapest or the highest quality model – rather than the mid-range variant.

However, X-Leaker @Tech_Revea bean spill that TechRadar claims to have a “respectable track record” is skeptical. They claim that there are rumors about Samsung canceling the Galaxy S24 “confused rumors.” I’m leaning towards @Tech_Reve on this one. While I suspect there have been internal discussions at Samsung about possibly discontinuing the Plus model, I don’t think the Samsung Galaxy S24 range will be suitable for this.

Again, there isn’t much in the rumor mill about the pricing of the next-gen phones at the moment, which could suggest there won’t be a price increase next year. Let’s take a look at the starting prices of the last three generations:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra: $799, $999, $1,199

  • Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra: $799, $999, $1,199

  • Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra: $799, $999, $1,199

Prices have remained consistent since Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 range in 2021. Could that change next year? With inflation causing tech price increases, that’s possible, but we won’t know for sure until we hear it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Samsung Galaxy S24 design

The Samsung Galaxy S23 has had the camera module block that encased the Samsung Galaxy S22 removed. But for this next generation line, loud @Tech_Revewe won’t see any major changes to the design language.

In collaboration with @Onleaksa bean spiller with a decent track record, SmartPrix High-quality renderings of the entry-level Galaxy S24 released.

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S24 will have the same angular design as its predecessor. It also still has a shockless camera module and three lenses. However, SmartPrix claims that the Galaxy S24 will be slightly larger and slimmer than the S23.

Ice universe, another reputable leaker in the technology space, claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will receive key improvements. It will likely ditch the curved screen aesthetic in favor of a flat panel. @Onleaks, on the other hand, claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a design that combines both a curved and flat design.

@Onleaks, again in collaboration with SmartPrixclaims the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra even has slimmer Apertures compared to its predecessor. Accordingly SmartPrixit is one of the “narrowest bezels” available on a smartphone.

Like the iPhone 15, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra also gets an Ultra Wideband (UWB) antenna, making it easier to track your device. The upper-class model Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to be slightly shorter than its predecessor, but slightly wider. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could get a brightness boost to 2,200 nits, an improvement over its predecessor’s 1,750 nits.

Ice Universe suggested that, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro models, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be made of titanium, Foregoing the Ultra’s signature “Armor Aluminum” frame. (Ewan Spence from Forbes also claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 could switch to titanium.)

Another rumor claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will ditch one of its telephoto lenses and switch its four-camera system to a trio-lens module, but we’ll get into that in more detail later.

Colors of the Samsung Galaxy S24

Accordingly GSMArenaThe new colors for the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S24 are as follows

The first two colors are usually referred to as “Phantom Black” and “Graphite” and are no strangers to the Galaxy S series. However, purple and yellow are shades we haven’t seen in several generations. As GSMArena pointed out, we had a purple colorway in the S21 series, but we haven’t had a yellow colorway since the Galaxy S10e.

Samsung Galaxy S24 display

Accordingly Ice universe, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus – the mid-range model – will see a negligible increase in display size (6.65 inches vs. 6.6 inches). Let’s take a look at the screen sizes of both generations:

Display size of the Samsung Galaxy S23

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 – 6.1 inches

  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ – 6.6 inches

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – 6.8 inches

Samsung Galaxy S24 display size (rumored)

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 – 6.1 inches

  • Samsung Galaxy S24+ – 6.65 inches

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – 6.8 inches

The same leaker also claims that the resolution difference between the S24+ and S24 Ultra will decrease; The mid-range model will get a better quality WQHD+ resolution along with the top variant.

Currently, all three Galaxy S23 models have displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. However, note that only the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz; The lower-end models have a dynamic refresh rate between 48 Hz and 120 Hz. What does that mean? Well, the Ultra can go as low as 1Hz when you’re not particularly active with your phone, meaning the screen refreshes a lot less. This saves battery life. The lower Samsung Galaxy S23 models can only drop down to 48Hz, meaning the screen may refresh even if your task doesn’t require such a high rate.

However, we assume that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ models will now have the option to reduce to 1 Hz. How do we know? Ice universe states that they will now use a LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) panel (which is included in the Ultra model), giving the lower-end variants the ability to smoothly switch between 1Hz and 120Hz.

As icing on the cake, loud SamLover, Samsung may upgrade the Ultra variant to 144 Hz. What does that mean for you? Navigating your phone will feel more seamless, fluid and responsive. Mobile gaming should also feel faster.

Finally, according to Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ gets a slimmer frame (2.5 mm versus 3.4 mm).

Samsung Galaxy S24 cameras

There are conflicting reports about the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S24. In June, Ice universe claimed they had secured the camera specs for the Ultra model from “Korean sources.”

The specs listed are mostly the same as before, but two months later Ice Universe changed their tune and suggested that the Ultra model will have two telephoto options: a 50 MP camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 10 MP lens with 3x optical zoom. The current Ultra model has two 10MP telephoto cameras, one with 10x zoom and one with 3x zoom. This means that the 10MP 10x sensor may be replaced by the 50MP 5x camera. On paper, this means the upcoming Ultra’s new telephoto sensor will have a shorter optical range before digital zoom software comes into play, but image quality should be sharper and sharper.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra:

  • Wide angle camera – 200 MP

  • Ultra wide angle camera – 12 MP

  • Telephoto Lens – 10MP 3x

  • Telephoto Lens – 10MP, 10x

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (rumored)

  • Wide angle camera – 200 MP

  • Ultra wide angle camera – 12 MP

  • Telephoto Lens – 10MP 3x

  • Telephoto Lens – 50MP, 5x

As for the other models, there isn’t much in the rumor mill about them. However, if things remain relatively constant, the lower-end models will still have a 50MP wide-angle camera, a 10MP 3X telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view.

Technical specifications and new features of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Accordingly SamMobile, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will power the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S series. Citing a report from China, SamMobile added that the new chipset will feature a GPU that is 50 percent faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Galaxy S23 series.

Interestingly, the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is faster than the graphics included in the A16 Bionic that you’ll find in the iPhone 14 Pro models. So the question is: Will the next-generation GPU, likely called the Adreno 750, beat the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro models in terms of graphics performance? Only time can tell.

SamMobile also reported that the entire Galaxy S24 lineup will start with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. This probably means you don’t have to spend more to increase the space on your phone. The Ultra model may have a variant with 1TB storage and 16GB RAM.

Finally, Samsung could take a page from Apple’s playbook and introduce it Satellite connection to the new S24 line.
