Scotland hooker Dave Cherry was eliminated from the Rugby World Cup after slipping on hotel stairs

Cherry slipped and fell on the stairs of the Scottish team hotel on Monday. Now he had to be replaced by Stuart McInally from Edinburgh.
McInally joined the Scotland squad this morning after being sidelined last week due to a concussion suffered by Ewan Ashman.
Cherry would have missed at least the next 12 days due to concussion protocols, so Scotland would have made the difficult decision to replace him.
“I am very disappointed to have to leave the squad with a concussion. “I enjoyed my time at the summer camp and played my first World Cup cap on Sunday against South Africa,” said Cherry.
“I wish the team all the best for the rest of the competition.”
Ashman is expected to be available for selection for Scotland’s Pool B clash against Tonga in Nice on Sunday September 24.
The Scots suffered a heavy 3-18 defeat against South Africa in Marseille on Sunday in their opening game of the World Cup.
Boss Gregor Townsend gave players several days off to get through Scotland’s upcoming weekend without a World Cup game.
