Shania Twain Set To Play Mrs. Potts For ABC’s Upcoming ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Special

Shania Twain was a busy woman this year.

The queen of pop country is finally making music again after a long break and is releasing her new single “Wake up and Dream” Last month.

And now she can add an acting role to the list as she prepares to play Mrs. Potts on ABC’s two-hour animated and live-action special. Beauty and the Beast, will air Thursday, December 15 as part of the film’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Corresponding cmt, Directors Hamish Hamilton and executive producer Jon M. Chu called on Shania to play the role of Mrs. Potts. the friendly teapot in the film who is Chip’s mother.

Not to mention, the cast itself is star-studded, including HER as Belle, Josh Groban as the beast, Joshua Henry as Gaston, and Rita Moreno as the narrator.

Other cast members include Martin Short (Lumiere), Rizwan Manji (LeFou), David Allen Grier (Cogsworth) and Jon Jon Briones (Maurice).

Leo Abuelo Perry will play Chip, so Twain will work alongside him.

Twain shared the news on her Instagram account, saying:

“I’m incredibly honored…and excited…and all the emotion (!!) to announce that I’m joining the cast of #BeautyAndTheBeast30th to play the role of my favorite character – Mrs. Potts.

And of course I would be remiss if I didn’t pay tribute to the iconic Angela Lansbury, I mean she IS Mrs Potts and the reason this character is so popular. Following in the footsteps of such an icon is a great honor and I hope to live up to the part. Airing December 15 on ABC Network.”
