Slowthai appears in court charged with two counts of rape
The award-winning rapper, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, released a statement as he appeared before Oxfordshire Magistrates Court.
The rapper was charged in September 2021 with oral and vaginal penetration by a woman without her consent.
The guard reported that the 28-year-old appeared via video link and only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
Mr. Frampton or slow thai was released on bail and will appear before the Crown Court The musical entertainer will have to submit an application next month.
However, he has taken to social media to post one opinion, denies any wrongdoing and says: “Regarding the allegations that are being reported about me. “I categorically reject the allegations. I am innocent and confident that my name will be cleared. Until then, I will be using my energies to ensure this is completed quickly and fairly.”
He added, “I ask my supporters not to comment on this situation and to respect the process and my family’s privacy at this time.”
The rapper, known for songs like Doorman, was nominated for the 2019 Mercury Prize for his debut album Nothing Great About Britain.
His second album Tyron was also a success, reaching number one when it was released in 2021. In March he released UGLY.
These allegations come after the star was set to take part in a series of tours in the UK and Europe in the autumn.
Those summer performances included Glastonbury in June, a support act slot with Blur in July and a stage appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festival.
