If you believe in the future importance of crypto, does a couple of years really make a difference?
The Crypto Markets It may be red all over the place, but that doesn’t stop many venture capitalists from investing in the space.
Valuations across the crypto industry are being rolled back and the sector has become more investor-friendly. Many VCs see this time as a great opportunity and are changing their crypto investment strategies to maximize the potential during the bear market. To fuel these potential deals, a number of large crypto-focused funds were launched this week, including Multicoin Capital’s $430 million venture fund, its third and largest fund to date, and Protagonist’s $100 million fund, which focuses on crypto companies focused in the early stages.
Like the traditional tech world, crypto works in cycles, Craig Burel, a partner at crypto-focused firm Reciprocal Ventures, told TechCrunch. “In boom times, there are wild experimental applications with new use cases that are out there or on the fringes, and so many of them break or fall apart and go flat.”
But in bear markets?
“The infrastructure is being built to make these applications successful again. That’s what we tend to focus on and lean into in bear markets,” Burel added.
