How to get your own Spotify DNA diagram
To start creating the DNA diagram, Spotify users need to visit a third-party website called “ N-gene art and link their Spotify account, explains TikTok user @valorinicole.
The website states that music fans can “convert your favorite artists into a sequence of Spotify features with a rarity value to highlight the uniqueness of your top artists.”
It is important to note that it is unclear whether the website you are using is safe and whether your account is secure while using it.
The DNA strand can be customized by the user by giving it a name and changing its color scheme.
The time period on which the data is based can also be changed.
When the strand is complete, the name of the table is displayed in the top left along with the rarity rating.
@valorinicole Reply to @Noah: You need to give the site permission to view your Spotify history and you should be good to go! You can change the name of your DNA thread, the colors, and the listening time period it is based on!#spotify #spotifyngen #spotifydna ♬ IDC at all – Lauren Sanderson
Additionally, on the left side of the chart, your music data is broken down into categories including danceability, energy, mood, instrumentality, acoustics, and verbosity.
In the middle you’ll see a strand of DNA with emojis representing the categories of music you listen to.
On the right side of the DNA diagram you will find a list of your favorite artists that you listen to on Spotify.
When it’s finished, you can save it and share it on your social media accounts.
A user commented on the tutorial asking if the site was accessing their other data within Spotify, and @valorinicole also shared how to disable the permissions.
Literature recommendations:
This requires Spotify users to use a browser to access their account, rather than the app.
You need to go to “View Account” and then “Manage Apps” and scroll down to find n-gen-art.
There is a green button next to it that says “Remove Access.” Click on it to disable permissions.
