Squid Game Series 2 launch date – when will it return?

Unfortunately, there’s no good news for Squid Game fans hoping for a Series 2 in the near future.

Actor Lee Jung-jae has given a disappointing update on the progress of the next series.

Lee, who plays anti-hero Seong Gi-hun, has stated that creator and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk is “struggling” to write the second series.

In an interview with People, Lee said Hwang hasn’t written the script yet because he has so many ideas!

Lee told the magazine: “[It] Looks like he has a lot of different ideas.

“But write a [script] is something you don’t know when it’s going to happen [be finished].

“Only director Hwang knows and [it] feels like he’s really struggling to write the script.”

So if it’s not written yet, Series 2 will NOT launch in 2022.

With any luck, Hwang Dong-hyuk will finish the script this year, and the cast and crew can start filming in 2023.

Fingers crossed!

Will there be more Squid Game series after Series 2?

Netflix has not confirmed whether there will be more series of Squid Game after Season 2.

But we are confident.

With creator and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk having so many good ideas, surely there is still work to be done to keep the series up and running!?

Website small-screen.co.uk has reported that “Squid Game seasons 2 and 3 are already in the works”.

An insider told them that Squid Game Season 3 is already in the works on the streaming platform.

They said: “The second season of Squid Game is in active development and Netflix has already greenlit a third season.

“There’s also talk of a Squid Game spin-off movie.

“This comes after Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) that he is in talks with Netflix about both Season 2 and Season 3.”
