Stable Hearth in Darlington wins best pizzeria in England
Stable Hearth on Duke Street was named Best Pizzeria in England at the seventh edition of the Italian Awards on Sunday (October 8).
The restaurant has already been awarded the “Best Pizzeria” award in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
The awards were accepted by the team on stage, celebrating another win for the venue.

A spokesperson for Stable Hearth said: “Winner of Best Pizzeria in England: Stable Hearth.”
“Come on, team! We won both categories at the awards ceremony last night and couldn’t be happier!”
The restaurant offers authentic Neapolitan pizzas with no deep pans or thin and crispy dishes on the menu.
The pizza dough is made on site every day, using only flour, water, salt and yeast as ingredients, which then leave to rise for at least 24 hours.

The traditional wood-fired oven works at over 400 degrees and the pizzas are ready within 90 seconds.
It also has an extensive wine selection, for which it also won an award on the night.
Residents reacted with joy to the news of the win and said they couldn’t wait to visit the restaurant.
One excited resident said: “Yes! I knew you would get them! Congratulations to you all and totally deserved!”

The restaurant opened in Darlington in 2017, having originally opened in a pub in Gainford, County Durham, in 2013.
