After Roderick and Dr. Hathaway grieving for their two sons, they plan to kidnap “Death” and force him to revive their sons. But it’s not all sunshine and roses; He quickly learns that in his absence the empire has decayed and crumbled.

The Corinthian tracks down Ethel, Roderick’s mistress, with whom he had an unwanted son, Jonathan. He warns her that Morpheus has escaped and will likely be after her since she stole the ruby while fleeing from Roderick. Since Morpheus must sacrifice Gregory and visit The Fates to help reclaim the Ries, The Corinthian asks if Ethel should kill The Corinthian. But it only proves to be a ruse as The Corinthian tries to target Ethel, only to fail when she reveals her own powers. As a result, The Corinthian is sent back to the dream world. But he is unstoppable and will soon return to the waking world.

Episode 3-4

Johanna performs an exorcism in which a famous soccer player dies. After completing her duties, Lord Morpheus tells Johanna that he needs her name to find the sands. But she refuses to help them. Meanwhile, Jonathan, still imprisoned, reveals to Ethel that he knows the truth about her and his father; and when Ethel wants the ruby from him, he first demands the truth from her. After Morpheus learns that Johanna is suffering from terrible dreams, he offers to make her disappear if she helps him, which she seems to accept.

It quickly becomes apparent that Ethel is not as evil as we once thought; Instead, she seems to have her son imprisoned since Jonathon caused many deaths the last time he had the ruby. But when Ethel says she did everything to protect him, she takes off the amulet of protection.

Johanna goes to her ex-girlfriends and tries to find the sand that Morpheus wants so badly. But the sand isn’t meant for humans and they find Rachel dying and shriveled up in bed. By taking away the sand, Rachel faces certain death; Despite this, Morpheus lets her die. After removing the amulet of protection in the hospital/prison, Ethel ages and soon collapses in her son’s arms and dies. When a guard witnesses Ethel’s death, Jonathon violently kills several guards (by exploding their bodies) and exits the hospital where he was confined for so long.

Morpheus goes to Hell where he is reunited with his former love Nada whom he brought to Hell for betraying him. And while in Hell, Morpheus has no choice but to fight Lucifer. But after Lord Morpheus wins the battle, he takes back the helm. When Jonathon obtains his much-desired Ruby, he leaves the Amulet of Protection with Rosemary, a woman he befriends/fears.

Episode 5-6

Since Jonathon possesses the ruby, he uses it to wreak havoc at a local diner. By getting everyone to tell the truth, many of the diner patrons’ secrets become clear. A married couple, Gary and Kate, who despite claiming to be happily married distrust each other to the point of resentment. Mark Brewer, who has an interview with the couple’s company, screws up the interview due to Jonathon’s powers.

Bette tries to convince her boss, Marsh, to come to her room later that evening. But it turns out that Marsh has no interest in her since he has sex with her son. But then it quickly becomes clear that Bette is gay too and makes out with one of the other guests in the diner. After a short time, all the guests are paired up and having sex. Jonathon licks it all up while wandering around the diner.

Things soon turn violent when Garry catches Mark with his wife. It leads to Garry’s death. And through that action, Bette realizes that Jonathon was behind everything that happened at the diner. As they all die as part of Jonathon’s “better world”, Bette is the last survivor. Until she pokes herself in the eye. In the bloody aftermath, Morpheus shows Jonathon that the ruby hurts him and those in the waking world. Morpheus tries to reason with Jonathon. But when he can’t, he puts Jonathon into an endless sleep so humanity can sleep in peace.

After this, Morpheus reunites with his sister Death; and she has the tough job of taking people when their time is up. While his other sister Desire plans to return Morpheus to his cage.

Episode 7-8

Desire learns that there is a Dream Vortex, Rose Walker, that will damage everyone. As for Rose, she’s trying to find her brother who has been missing for several years. Morpheus later confirms the vortex exists, and Lucienne says “it” needs to be fixed. But since Morpheus has the dream world to take care of, Matthew and Lucienne decide to track her down.

Meanwhile, Rose meets Unity, who happens to be her grandmother. Unity “fell asleep” at 12 dreaming of the best life and only recently woke up. The Corinthians reenter the scene; While trying to find Rose, he runs into his roommate, Carl. They have sex, but Corinthian abruptly leaves after telling Carl to get Rose to call him. The three sisters visit Polly and warn her of impending danger.

After meeting his copycat assassins, The Corinthian invites them to try to find the Vortex. While Rose, now in Dreamland, confronts Morpheus. She asks if he knows anything about her brother Jed. When Morpheus points out to Rose that she is a Dream Vortex, they decide to work together and track down Jed. While Jed dreams of being a superhero, the reality is that he is with a foster family who locks him in the basement. And while Rose is trying to track down Jed, The Corinthian is trying to track her down.

Shortly thereafter, The Corinthian tracks down Jed and kills his abusive foster parents. After taking a little ride, The Corinthian has Jed Rose call and tell her where they are.

Episodes 9-10

Knowing Jed’s whereabouts, Rose decides to track him down. Her rescuer Gilbert wants to make sure she stays safe on the journey, so he’s coming with her. Morpheus enters Lyta’s dream world, kills Hector (who was a ghost hiding in a dream) and says he will return to take Lyta’s baby. To protect her friend, Rose uses her powers against Morpheus. Afterwards, Rose and Gilbert sneak into the “cereal” convention. And shortly after, it becomes clear that Gilbert is actually Fiddles Green. When Rose and Jed reunite and try to escape from Fun Land, The Corinthian saves them both by killing Fun Land.

After saving her life, The Corinthian tries to convince Rose to turn against Morpheus, who he claims will kill them both. As The Corinthian gives the killers a motivational speech, Morpheus steps in and says that The Corinthian did nothing. There is a brief stalemate resulting in Morpheus uncreating The Corinthian; As a result, all serial killers feel immense guilt, so they either kill themselves or confess to their crimes.

But it’s not over yet; Morpheus has to deal with the vortex first. When Morpheus tries to kill Rose, her grandmother Unity appears, and since she was the first descendant, she sacrifices her own life to save Rose, but not before Unity reveals that her child’s father had golden eyes, aka desire After seemingly threatening Desire enough to stop her, Morpheus seems happy (for once). However, Lucifer is furious; and she wants to bring the Silver City and Lucifer to their knees. And that probably leads us into season two.
