The actress had previously pulled out of last week’s episode for “health reasons” before confirming she would not be taking part in the competition again this year.
Strictly It Takes Two presenter Fleur East shared the news on Monday before a short statement appeared on screen: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue on Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.”
“The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

Giovanni Pernice shares his message after Strictly partner Amanda Abbington leaves the show
In a post on Instagram, alongside an accompanying picture of him and Amanda Abbington Backstage in his pajamas, he said: “Amanda… I’m so sad we can’t move on but I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and I’m sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly.”
This comes amid reports of a “rift” between Pernice and Abbington, according to the Daily Star.
The couple were quick to deny these rumors on Strictly’s It Takes Two, with presenter and dancer Janette Manrara saying: “Honestly it looks like you two are having the best time in rehearsals and are like a house during rehearsals in flames, right?”
Abbington replied: “Yes, we are! We do and we laugh a lot, we have the same sense of humor which is really important. So we’re going to come out, work hard and then we’ll just laugh, right?”
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
