Subdued Season 1 Episode 6 Summary and Ending Explained

The hilariously goofy yet utterly self-serious Spanish thriller Mutedor El Silenciois six parts Netflix Series revolving around an ill-considered and ethically terrible experiment.
The subject is Sergio, a young man imprisoned for killing both of his parents by throwing them out of a high-rise apartment window. Since then, he has not spoken to anyone about the incident. His selective mutism is the title of the series and, it turns out, the justification for a bizarre scientific study in which he is released from juvenile detention center and allowed to return to the crime scene, only to have a psychiatrist and a team of investigators use hidden cameras and microphones to be compulsively monitored.
Ana is the psychiatrist who keeps a obsessive eye on Sergio, although her personal connection to the case is clear from the start. She is being watched over by a police officer named Cabrera, who also seems to have ulterior motives.
And then there’s Marta, Sergio’s pen pal from prison, who stayed in touch with him throughout his incarceration and with whom Sergio begins a relationship shortly after his release.
These various competing storylines all come together in the series finale.
Season 1 muffled ending explained
Did Sergio kill his parents?
The main question of the series is whether Sergio really killed his parents and this is revealed in a double twist. However, the short answer is yes.
Sergio’s version of events states that his mother abused and violently experimented on him and his sister Noa. To protect Noa, he remembers attacking his mother, but is certain that his father accidentally pushed her to her death and then, out of guilt, committed suicide.
However, it is Noa herself, the only witness to the event, who finally reveals that it was in fact Sergio who killed both of her parents. His mother was never abusive – she was a little emotionally cold and distant, but she loved her children and, far from experimenting with the drugs on Sergio, tried to keep him balanced enough not to become a danger to him itself became others.
She obviously failed.
What connection does Ana have to Sergio?
Throughout the season, it becomes clear that Ana sees much more in Sergio than just a lab rat, and little by little it is revealed that she sees a lot of herself in him.
Similar to Sergio, Ana is unable to adapt. She is unpredictable and feels disconnected from everyone else, including those closest to her. Her life is essentially a representation of normalcy, and in Sergio she sees an authenticity and a sense of potential connection that she finds compelling.
However, she goes too far. She becomes increasingly unstable and incredibly horny, which doesn’t go unnoticed. In her obsession with Sergio, she tries to create a connection that doesn’t really exist.
Does Sergio kill Ana?
The end of Muted is ambiguous, although the conclusion is that Sergio killed Ana by pushing him off the same balcony as his parents.
However, there is also a possibility that the opposite is true and Ana pushed him to his death, perhaps to try to “become” him in some odd way.
Either way, we know that both Sergio and Ana go out on the balcony together. And we know that one stands still while the other falls to his death. The lack of clarity should get people talking.
