Super Bowl winner debunks media bias in powerful statement

Dana White’s apology and acceptance of his inexcusable actions don’t seem enough for those who believe further consequences should be dealt to the UFC President. Others have chastised the mainstream media for their bias in condemning White for hitting his wife on New Year’s Eve.

White made his first public media appearance earlier this week following the unfortunate physical altercation with his wife. He claimed that leaving with the guilt of his behavior and realizing that his public image has been tainted was a huge consequence for himself. However, two-time Super Bowl champion Torrey Smith thinks differently.

Dana White says the only punishment that will come from hitting his wife will be in public. “That’s what I’m called now.” Full interview: bit.ly/3kbJTSZ

Smith berated Dana White for his behavior on Twitter, claiming that while others remain silent, influential people could avoid punishment:

“People don’t really care about domestic violence. They only care if certain people do. People with power can do anything and people are silent. That’s why Dana White was ignored. It’s lame. If he was an athlete, they would try to kick him out of the league.”

Smith went on to say that the mainstream media should be ashamed of their lack of coverage of the incident:

“Honestly, many media personalities should be embarrassed that they are not covering the incident. Your silence says a lot. I’m a strong believer in giving grace, but a mistake of this magnitude deserves discussion. They all gave it a pass.”

Torrey Smith concluded his stance by stating that he did not believe people should be publicly shunned or fired for their behavior, but that they should be held accountable for their behavior.

Frankly, many media personalities should be embarrassed for not covering the incident. your silence says I am a great believer in giving grace, but a mistake of this magnitude deserves discussion. You gave him a passport.

Let me be clear, I don’t believe in throwing people away (all the time), but your actions do have consequences. People have to be consistent. I’m not saying ban him for life or anything, but a free pass is wild.

But what do I know? I only talk about noise and football on Twitter. I’ll fire those tweets though. I’ve been doing this since college. I don’t care what people think either. You will hear me 🤷🏿‍♂️

Dana White takes full responsibility for his New Year’s Eve behavior

Dana White had a rocky start to the new year when he was caught on tape hitting his wife twice in response to her hitting him for the first time.

White told reporters earlier this week that no one should justify his actions and that he will bear the shame of his behavior for the rest of his career with the organization. White further guaranteed that this mistake would never be repeated and took full responsibility for the situation:

“I guarantee you it will never happen again. Nobody should defend me. There are no two sides to the story. There’s only my side… Hopefully everyone has seen what’s wrong with me and hopefully that never happens. But at the end of the day we are all human. We all make mistakes. All you can do is try to recover from the mistakes you made in life.
