Pop star Taylor Swift is reportedly the front-runner at the NFL halftime show for next year’s Super Bowl 57.
The NFL announced Friday that the league is teaming up with Apple Music for the upcoming Super Bowl.
“We’re proud to welcome Apple Music to the NFL family as our new partner for the iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Nana-Yaw Asamoah, SVP of Partner Strategy for the NFL. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting partner for the world’s most watched musical performance than Apple Music, a service that entertains, inspires and motivates millions of people around the world through the intersection of music and technology.”
Corresponding diversity, insiders say a Taylor Swift NFL Halftime Show is pretty much a done deal. And since halftime entertainment has focused heavily on rap artists in recent years, it might be time to change direction.
Swift has been a big supporter of Apple Music and has debuted many of her recent songs there. And while she had grappled with the service about royalties, she also credited Apple for solving the problem.
Then there’s the Pepsi connection, or lack thereof. With the Pepsi partnership ending for the NFL’s big halftime show, that could easily open the door for Swift, who had joined Coca-Cola in place of Pepsi, a deal that made her ill-suited for a Pepsi-sponsored show.
Swift is also on the cusp of a major concert tour, and the halftime show has often been a harbinger of an artist’s next tour.
So the stars seem to be lining up for Swift to join the NFL in the coming year.
Swift recently received another dubious ovation after being criticized for being one of the worst contributors to global warming for constantly flying around the world in private jets.
The “Shake It Off” singer has also championed a growing list of extreme left-wing causes.
In June, for example, Swift blew up the US Supreme Court over its decision to overturn it Rove vs Wade and claimed the court had “deprived women of their rights”. Last year, she stepped in to support the loss of Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial race. And during the 2020 presidential campaign, she championed Joe Biden and criticized Donald Trump and his constituents. She has been a vocal and constant critic of the Trump administration.
