Could Taylor Swift are you preparing to beat this year’s Super Bowl LVII?
It looks like that might be the case…
Last night at midnight Eastern time, the NFL announced that Apple Music will be the Halftime Show’s new sponsor for 2023 after Pepsi decided not to renew after ten years as main sponsor:
And since that moment, rumors have been circulating that it could be Taylor’s turn to take over the duties of the halftime show, which is estimated to have 103 million viewers this year. It just doesn’t get any bigger than performing at the Super Bowl, I think we all know that.
Fans have cited the fact that Taylor has long been associated with the word “Midnight” as an indication that it is her, largely because her new album is called that midnightand she’s smashed several previous records at the time, although pretty much every artist on the planet is doing it.
However, the biggest hurdle for the pop superstar to perform at halftime was that she had been in a sponsorship deal with Pepsi’s biggest competitor, Coca-Cola, for quite some time, so there would be a major conflict of interest for both parties to her to let occur.
But with the acquisition of Apple Music and the departure of Pepsi, it doesn’t seem far-fetched to think she’d be the go-to headliner, if you will.
Taylor’s new album midnight is slated to drop October 21st, so obviously you couldn’t buy the kind of press and attention it would get for putting on a show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona next year and playing those songs between halves .
Super Bowl LVI will air on February 12, 2023 on Fox and acc diversityTaylor has already been confirmed as the Super Bowl halftime headliner by three different sources.
Taylor and her team have yet to publicly comment on the rumor, and she’s mainly been promoting her new album on her various social media platforms, so she hasn’t revealed any leads there either.
But since the news is pretty far out at this point, I’d say it won’t be long before we get the official word.
I know it’s a long road, and she has an extremely large catalog of hits to choose from, but I think a little despised country song from yesteryear would make a damn opener at Super Bowl LVII…
