Taylor vs. Cameron: Fight Time, Undercard, Prediction, Ringwalks and Current Odds

Atie Taylor is fighting pro for the first time in her native Ireland when she takes on Chantelle Cameron in an undisputed blockbuster light welterweight bout this weekend.
The 36 year old is one of the biggest names in Irish sport and has her home fight on Saturday night and as she already has the full set of lightweight belts she is now competing and trying to become the undisputed twoweight champion of the world.
After her remarkable first fight last year at Madison Square Garden, Taylor was set to make a rematch with Amanda Serrano in Dublin. However, an injury to Serrano forced a change of plans and now Cameron appears to be the first fighter to defeat Taylor as a pro.
The 31-year-old Briton, also unbeaten in her 17 professional fights, is the UK’s first undisputed female champion after easily picking up a points win over Jessica McCaskill in Abu Dhabi late last year, though her rise has stalled somewhat She’s on the radar and gets a chance to steal the spotlight by spoiling the party in Dublin.
“My motivation for this fight is higher than ever,” said Taylor. “I think it would have been a lot worse if I went from Amanda Serrano to a mandatory opponent. That would be a fight I couldn’t really pull myself together for, but it’s a fight that I am.
“I’m really motivated for it. She’s motivated too and I know that. I have to do my best to beat them on fight night. People are saying this fight will be an even better fight than Amanda Serrano’s fight.”

Prediction between Taylor and Cameron
Taylor deserves credit for challenging Cameron and pushing for this fight after Serrano’s injury, when many in her position would have settled for a lighter opponent and a more experienced evening on home soil.
Victories over McCaskill and Mary McGee have shown just how good Cameron is, and with eight knockout wins to her name, she will cause problems for Taylor with her power, especially the size advantage given the Irish fighter weighs in at up to 140lbs.
In the Serrano fight, Taylor faltered at times as the pair stood in the center of the ring and traded. A repeat of these slugfests would mean another memorable fight is at hand, but it would unsettle the home favourites.
There will inevitably be plenty of moments when the two let go of their hands, especially in a noisy atmosphere, but Taylor’s speed and movement might just be enough to see her get the upper hand, and Cameron probably needs to do something really special to help to achieve that decision in Dublin.
