What is Namhom doing in Thai cave rescue?

After Namhom makes it to the cave, the guards pay little heed to her concerns. They seem to think that she is “crazy” and that her son is not among those locked in the cave. Only when Namhom succeeds in shouting down the governor is she allowed to be there. After Namhom reveals that she has no documents, she prompts the guards to explain why she would risk everything if her son weren’t among the 13 people trapped in the cave.

Sensing that she feels genuine sorrow, the governor grants her access to the site. From that moment on, she spends the rest of the season waiting for news regarding the cave rescue mission. Because Mark is small, experts struggle to find a scuba mask that’s the right size for his face. And for a while it seems Mark can’t survive the rescue mission. Due to the problems, Mark is the last person taken out of the cave. And when there is a landslide when being brought out of the cave, Namhom fears that her son has died. Luckily for Namhom and Mark, he survives the ordeal.
