Thai restaurant Zaap is moving to Riverwalk Durham

Sukho Group, which is behind restaurant company Zaap, has earmarked two units in the city of Durham’s Riverwalk project that could be converted into a new food market, complete with Thai graffiti, tuk-tuk booths, neon lights, tuk-tuks and colorful pennants. Hats and street signs.

The company, which has numerous restaurants in Newcastle, York and Leeds, said it had been looking for an apartment in Durham “for some time”.

The company is now awaiting confirmation of a license application and will create 30 jobs once approved.

A spokesman said: “We have been looking for a unit in Durham for a number of years, we love the city, it has a really diverse population of locals and students which is perfect for Zaap.”

“There is currently nothing like Zaap in Durham. We will be completely transforming the unit and it will feature our iconic tuk-tuk seating booths, an open kitchen, quirky neon lighting and lots of bespoke Thai-inspired graffiti.”

“Our menu features over 100 Thai street food dishes with recipes from all parts of Thailand.

“There are classics like pad Thai and massaman curry, but also plenty of dishes you might not have tried before, including som tum salad, a variety of noodle soups and even a sizzling seafood platter.”

“There is something for everyone, including a selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options – all at an affordable price. We will also have a huge drinks menu including our popular bubble teas, a selection of Asian beers and Thai inspired cocktails.
