The 2023 Oscars break with a decades-old tradition by opting for a champagne-colored carpet – find out why

The carpet for the for over 60 years oscars was red. However, this is not the case for 2023.
It turns out that when celebrities and their guests arrive for the Oscars 2023instead, they are greeted by a champagne-colored carpet.

The official rollout of the carpet with the host took place earlier this week Jimmy Kimmel in attendance and the color revelation shocked many in attendance.
But why was the color changed? Accordingly Peopleit’s just The Academy trying something new.
“People were like, ‘Is there trouble this year? Will there be violence this year?’ And we certainly hope not,” Jimmy shared during a clip from the AP’s introduction. “But if so, I think the decision to choose a champagne carpet over a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be spilled.”
The AP also added this Vogue contributor Lisa love and creative director of the Met Gala Raul Avila served as creative consultants for Step and Repeat, and The Academy made the decision to completely cover the carpet with a canopy for inclement weather only.
Lisa said the carpet might not remain champagne-colored for future shows, however.
“Somebody always finds a way to find something wrong with something,” she added of those already upset about the change. “It’s just a lightness and I hope people like it. That doesn’t mean it will always be a champagne colored carpet.”
The Oscars 2023 takes place on Sunday March 12th and airs at 8pm on ABC from the Dolby Theatre
