The 5 Outlandish Things People Say They Want From Their Employer

Everyone loves a good wish list. A Christmas wish list, a birthday wish list, a general wish list – things we can only dream of and hope to happen or have. What about a job pers wish list?

Trusaic conducted a survey to see what benefits employers would offer their employers, and the responses definitely didn’t disappoint.

There are a few ways I can follow, but some of them are a little offbeat for me. I picked the funniest/valid answers and we’ll break them down. Prepare and write them down for future work meeting suggestions.

  • Paid celebration vacation, also known as hangover vacation

This one is pretty valid and my top pick, especially here in south Louisiana. Post-Mardi Gras, post-Festival International, post-soccer, everything… we’re all on the Battle Bus. There’s nothing worse than going to work the day after having too much fun (next to hungover trips, that’s the 7th circle of hell). Give us a day or two to recover so we can get back to our best 🙂

We’ve all gone through some not-so-nice breakups or messy breakups. They’re emotional, they’re exhausting, and they can definitely cause you to lose focus on your professional responsibilities. It’s easy to say check your personal belongings at the door, but sometimes you just can’t. Whether it’s time to mend a broken heart or just move your stuff from its place or vice versa… I like this one.

In this day and age, I think that’s vital. Not just for a break, but for a mental break. If you work in the news business, you eat, sleep and breathe social media and you want to be constantly in the loop. This is really bad for your brain, your thought process, and your general outlook on life. A good break from all social activities is a necessity these days. Prescribed breaks for this are even better.

  • Pity leave for heart disease sports fans

As a die-hard, lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan… needless to say how much I agree with this one. Nothing is worse than going to work after staying up too late and basically stepping into a shark tank full of co-workers who give you nothing but shit about your team screwing up and losing. Stay home, lick your wounds, and come back just a little bit stronger the next day.

You lost me with this. I can barely keep myself alive, let alone a plant. 5% of the people who responded to this poll voted for this one. Not much more to say about that… except sorry for your loss.

Which one are you driving behind? Are there other events that warrant vacations or freebies?

I’m going to be a big proponent of hangover vacations. I think the majority of Louisiana will do it.

money tight? Have a phenomenal stay in Louisiana

You can only travel an hour or two to find a new place to visit, explore and spend time with your family.
