The Almighty Million poker tournament comes to Borgata in May with qualifiers on BetMGM
After a very successful leap back into the world of big buy-in poker tournaments with the aptly named The Return, which raked in 1,142 $5,300 entries, the Boragta poker room is keeping the momentum going with the Almighty Million poker event in May.

The $800 buy-in tournament with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool has four starting flights: Sun 7th May, Mon 8th May, Tue 9th May and Wed 10th May. Day 2 begins on Thursday, May 11th. Players Start with 100,000 chips.
“Almighty has been synonymous with Borgata Poker for almost a decade,” said Kellie DeCelis, Manager of Poker Operations at Borgata. “It has been three years since Borgata has offered this type of event as part of the Borgata Winter Open and Almighty is always one of the most anticipated events on the calendar, bringing the same excitement with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. “
In a twist, this is a Best Stack Forward event. This means players can play all Day 1s even if they found a bag the day before. If you slump more than once, you carry your biggest stack into Day 2.
Qualify online
Just like The Return in January, the Borgata has partnered with BetMGM Poker to host the Almighty Million and also offer online qualifiers. Players in New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania can try to enter the event cheaply via online qualifiers.
Players will be competing for the $2,000 satellite package starting April 23 on the BetMGM and Borgata online skins. The package includes entry to the Almighty Millions, a hotel stay and $500 in cash.

Home to Atlantic City’s largest poker room, the Borgata has been a part of contemporary poker history since it opened in 2003. It was in the second season of the now 20-year-old World Poker Tour and for the next 15 years. the Borgata Poker Open was an important station.
A total of 11,749 entries were generated from the WPT Made-for-TV events over those years. Some of the champions include Daniel Negreanu (season three), Darren Elias (season thirteen), Anthony Zinno (season seven), and Mark Newhouse (season five).
Like most companies, COVID has destroyed the Borgata’s tournament schedule. That was until January when it returned in a big way with a $5,300 buy-in event that easily surpassed its $3 million guaranteed prize pool, thanks in part to those who prevailed through online qualifier tournaments.
Bin Weng ended a six-month downturn by winning the event and its $1 million prize pool. Former Main Event Champion Joe McKeehan was third and the final nine players all cashed in six figures.
Note that despite the lower guarantee, The Almighty has similar listing numbers. It will be a good warm-up for players planning to make the pilgrimage to Las Vegas at the end of May for World Series of Poker events and will give one of them a very nice bankroll for the summer.
