Time Out, a global magazinerecently included downtown in its list of the world’s 40 best neighborhoods for 2023.

Bounded by Dupont St., Bloor St., Bathurst St. and Avenue Rd., the Annex, ranked 38th, is a student-frequented area thanks to the University of Toronto’s St. George campus.
While Honest Ed’s no longer exists — it was demolished to make way for condos in Bathurst and Bloor — the emerging Mirvish Village Hub will bring new retail space, additional housing, a music venue and a park to the neighborhood, the statement says Publication.

“Combined with long-standing favorites like Hot Docs Cinema, pubs where professors, students and professionals stand side by side to drink a beer, and a new addition to Toronto’s Michelin Guide, the Annex is making a comeback in 2023 – and “The coolest place to be right now,” is Time Out’s summary of the neighborhood.
It was one of two Canadian neighborhoods highlighted. Montreal’s downtown ranked 36th, up two spots.
The top district? That went to Laureles in Medellin, Colombia. Rounding out the top three were Smithfield in Dublin, Ireland, and Carabanchel in Madrid, Spain.
