In the season one finale, the citizens of Deerfield gather for the annual Deerfest and enjoy the celebrations to the fullest, even if the weather is cloudy. During this festival, the morpho machine begins to act strangely, and some citizens share their darkest secrets.

The bartender acts suspiciously and turns this statement into an argument. She reveals that she was there the night Ruben found his priest card. Reuben is hurt that Hana didn’t mention this unique coincidence and kept it a secret.

How did Hana and Father Reuben meet?

Hana didn’t tell Reuben about it because it was an awkward first encounter. Hana kicked Reuben out of their bar. He tried to start a fight and was grieving the death of his wife. Currently, Reuben is upset to learn that Hana kept this a secret from him.

Father Reuben now realizes that Hana knew about the morpho machine long before she arrived in Deerfield. The machine was there in another city, and Hana chose not to mention that important fact either. He begins to become suspicious of her. However, Hana defends herself, stating that she has no answers for Reuben. He needs to stop looking for signs.

Back at Deerfest, a clerk argues with Cass, upset that she was robbed of her money by the woman. This provokes Cass, who rants about this illogical argument.

It’s ridiculous to think she would orchestrate this complex plan for so little profit. izzy drags her away before she makes a real scene. However, Cass does not argue with her mother. She hugs her in the maze.

Who is Mr. Johnson’s emergency contact?

Cass tells her mother that she hurt her. Izzy says she protected her daughter. Cass then leaves Izzy in the middle of the maze. dr Woods calls Izzy and informs the mayor about Mr. Johnson’s heart condition. Izzy is no longer Mr. Johnson’s emergency contact; he has no one else. she says dr Woods that she’s on her way to the hospital.

Next, Dusty and Cass ride the Ferris wheel just like in the good old days. Unfortunately, the whole city lost power, leaving them stranded at the top of the bike. Dusty reconsiders being together and considers spending some time apart from Cass.

Giorgio manages to impound an aerial platform picker and saves everyone stranded in the ferris wheel. To celebrate, he kisses Nat.

In the meantime, Beau saves Izzy. With his trusty chainsaw, he cuts through the thick walls of straw and saves them. Then it starts to rain. The citizens put on their raincoats, leave the festival and make their way home in the dark.

What is the new message of the Morpho machine?

They notice light coming from the general store and walk over to it. The Morpho Machine is operational again. The doors are open and the machine’s lights are on. Dusty looks in and reads the message on the screen. It says: are you ready for the next level?

The machine begins to play music similar to that of the theremin. Hana enters the store and explains that the machine has never done this before. She knows more about the machine than she lets on. Did she follow the machine from town to town? Why is she so worried about this machine?

The camera then lingers on Hana’s back. It’s covered in these weird bruises. The spots almost form a pattern in the shape of a butterfly’s wings.
