The Chinese people abandon them, or resign their houses in the United States, whereas Overwatch, WoW and many others will close their doors in January

Surprise Blizzard announced today that its games will be suspended, most of them in Chinese, due to the suspension of its licensing agreement with NetEase.

Effective January 23, 2023, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Warcraft III, Reforged, Overwatch 2, the StarCraft series, Diablo 3, Heroes of the Storm, and other Irvine titles will no longer exist in China. Diablo Immortal has different language rules, it is protected by a separate license agreement and will therefore remain functional.

Blizzard Entertainment has had licensing agreements with NetEase covering the release of Blizzard games in China since 2008. The two sides have not agreed to extend the agreement in accordance with the company’s operating principles and employees’ obligations, so the agreements expire in January 2023.

The Irvine-based company will be suspending sales in the coming days and players will soon be receiving a detailed ad of the next step. Blizzard will keep the commitments through January, allowing the next releases such as World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Heartstone: March of the Lich King, and Overwatch to be released in Chinese territory as planned by the end of the year.

It’s a sensational decision by Blizzard that resulted in the immediate abandonment of the company, which took its name from a very profitable market. To say this, Diablo Immortal’s active player count went from 20 million to 30 million in just a week after their first game in China.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight, non-renewed and unoriginal diversions.

On the other hand, the gambling system of the world has been changed recently due to the new restrictions imposed by the government. We’ve extended the video game approval period by eight months and capped hours of play for children under 18; Blizzard experienced a decline in user numbers and an increase in profits in China for the first time in 14 years.

A Blizzard spokesman in a message to PC Gamers’ editors denied that he was looking for ideas about possible disputes with NetEase.

“We continue to have a very successful relationship with NetEase and it is completely wrong to assume there have been any financial disputes,” said the email a spokesman sent to an Irvine-based company.
