CEO Yasmin Gibson, 26, said it was a major achievement for the family business, which only fired up its copper fuel two years ago.
“When I found out we had won I was thrilled; It meant a lot to me because every day we get to live our dream and we just want others to love our gin as much as we do – it’s really our pride and joy.
“I was particularly nervous as this is the first award we have attended where the gin itself is judged. So it’s great to know that he’s now an award-winner.
“We’d love to be a household name, so this is a big step in the right direction towards becoming the most popular gin in the North East.”
In 2020, the father-daughter duo set out to create a refreshing, high-quality gin.
Paul Gibson, Yasmin’s father, is proud of his daughter leading her endeavor. He said: “I was overjoyed when I found out the award had been won. It means so much to us as a distillery.
“I am proud of what we have achieved in such a short time thanks to Yasmin’s sheer determination.
“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our family business and the gin sector in the North East.”
Dragon Slayer currently offers two gins inspired by the country’s historical folklore surrounding the distillery.
