DETROIT – General Motors on Monday confirmed plans to launch an all-electric version of its flagship Cadillac Escalade later this year.
The Detroit automaker announced that the new SUV will be called the “Escalade IQ,” continuing Cadillac’s EV naming strategy, which previously includes the Lyriq crossover and upcoming ultra-luxury sedan Celestiq.

An electric Escalade was expected as the company plans to convert Cadillac fully into an electric vehicle brand by 2030.
A Cadillac spokeswoman declined to reveal any details about the vehicle other than its existence and name. Analysts assume that the vehicle will go into production and on sale as early as next year automotive news.
The Cadillac Escalade IQ is expected to utilize GM’s Ultium battery cells, motors and technology, which the automaker uses to power and underpin its next-generation electric vehicles.
But just because it’s called the Escalade doesn’t necessarily mean it’s identical to the brand’s iconic combustion engine SUV. Previously announced electric vehicles that share names with GM’s traditional vehicles have completely different design features and technologies than their predecessors.
