The fire spread from the garbage can to the house and caused damage

The Fire Brigade were alerted at St Peter’s Road, Parkfield, Stockton just after 5.30am this morning (Thursday 18 May).

The house was damaged by the incident and the crew was on site for about 40 minutes.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We were called at 5.32am to reports of a dustbin fire in St Peter’s Road, Parkfield, Stockton.

“Two firefighters from the Stockton Community Fire Station dealt with the fire, which then spread to a property.

“A hose reel was used to put out the fire that damaged the siding and bay windows.

“The emergency services left the scene of the accident at 6:08 a.m.

“The fire is under investigation.”
