New owner Chris Daly took over the business after a career in the army and as a chauffeur, hoping to breathe new life into the Fox Hall Inn and start a new chapter.

He said: “I had a very low key opening, inviting some of the local gentlemen and landlords of the area to a little soirée.

“A few of the locals who live between here and Ravensworth came over and we had a lovely little time.”

The pub is known for offering stunning countryside views from its beer garden and also offers 11 boutique rooms as well as gastro pub food and drink.

This is set to continue under new management as Darlington head chef Scott Fisher will serve a traditional English menu with all food prepared “fresh on site”.

Chris added: “Everything is made fresh, its unique selling point is that everything is made fresh on site. People really can’t believe the cakes and meals we eat out.”

“It’s been really positive so far.”

Meanwhile, another person added that they used to work at the pub and said: “What a shame, it was my first job as a part-time waiter there in the early 80s and I have fond memories of the place.” I hope someone is moving it forward.
