The Galtres housing development in Shipton-by-Beningbrough, opened

The Galtres site in Shipton-by-Beningbrough is now open to the public.

This is an exclusive Mulgrave Properties community of just 10 quality homes, with a mix of two, three and four bedroom units available.

The village site was formerly a gas station, shop and workshop before closing some 30 years ago and then falling into disrepair for decades.

Several artefacts were discovered during construction work.

These include an antique clock and a tapestry depicting a historic stagecoach ride that has since been returned to the local community.

Buyers can now book a weekend appointment to view the brand new homes, priced from £285,950 for a two bedroom property.

David Smith, Sales Director at Mulgrave, said the company’s work has breathed new life into the site.

“This location has historically been important to the community and we can’t wait to welcome new families to the area and focus on the future,” he said.

“With significant cost savings to be had, demand is already high, so we encourage potential buyers to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.”

A spokesman for Mulgrave said each of The Galtres’ properties has been designed using advanced technologies and building materials to ensure the building is built to the highest level of energy efficiency.

This includes double glazed UPVC windows and doors, a high performance boiler and thermal insulation throughout.

This means Mulgrave homes have a Band B EPC rating, resulting in reduced mortgage rates and cutting electricity bills by an average of £2,200 a year.

“Buying a new home has many benefits for homeowners, including better environmental performance, a chain-free purchase and significant cost savings compared to inefficient pre-owned homes,” added David. “The average running of an older property cost almost £3,000 a year, while the average new build cost £1,317 – a reduction of 55 per cent.

“Banks and building societies also factor a home’s EPC rating into affordability calculations, meaning Mulgrave buyers are financially rewarded at the sale and throughout ownership.”

The Galtres is the successor project to Mulgrave Properties in the commuter village of Shipton-by-Beningbrough and succeeds The Grove.

Sales appointments are possible on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
