The Last of Us fans discover an Easter egg in the finale that could have major ramifications for Season 2

fans of The last of us spotted an apparent Easter egg in the Season 1 finale that could have lasting consequences for the future show.
The hit HBO post-apocalyptic drama began with a sequence that apparently revealed how Ellie (Bella Ramsey) became immune to the Cordyceps fungus.
Ellie’s mother (played by Ashley Johnson, who played Ellie in the video game original) is hiding in a secluded farmhouse as she gives birth to her daughter while being attacked by a walker.
Viewers familiar with the 2020 video game sequel The Last of Us Part II seemed to notice something familiar about the house where Ellie’s mother is hiding.
Very minor spoilers for The last of us Season two follows.
As many viewers on social media noted, the isolated farmhouse bears a strong resemblance to the home it is seen in Part IIwhen occupied by Ellie and Dina (a character not yet introduced in the series).
A second season of The last of us has already been confirmed, with creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann stating that they intend to adapt The Last of Us Part II over several seasons.

Neither the original game nor the 2020 sequel included the scene with Ellie’s mother, so the family connection to the farm would be an entirely new storyline if the series explored it in season two.
Fans noticed the strange Easter egg on social media.
“Anna runs off to give birth to Ellie in a farmhouse where Ellie and Dina live Part II… ohhhhh the shifts,” one person wrote.
“Is the farmhouse that Ashley goes to in the finale The last of us the same farmhouse that Ellie and Dina will be staying in????” asked another.

“SOMEONE ELSE NOTICES ASHLEY JOHNSON ENTERS THE FARMHOUSE, ELLIE AND DINA WALK IN THE BURDENS OF US II,” wrote another excitedly.
Elsewhere, The last of us was recently the target of “review bombing,” with online trolls apparently coordinating an attack on its LGBT-focused episodes.
The series is available to watch now in the UK on Sky and NOW.
