The Marvel Theory suggests that Doctor Strange told a dangerous lie in Avengers: Infinity War

An Avengers theory about Doctor Strange is doing the rounds.

The theory looks back to the moment Avengers: Infinity War when the Sorcerer Supreme, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, gave Thanos (Josh Brolin) the Time Stone to save Iron Man’s life.

This was a pivotal moment behind Thanos’s success in acquiring all six Infinity Stones, allowing him to snatch away half of all human existence.

Previously, Doctor Strange used the Time Stone to see a total of 14,000,605 possible outcomes of Thanos’ plan; He claimed that only one of these outcomes led to the Mad Titan’s defeat by the Avengers. We have seen these events unfold Avengers: Endgame.

Doctor Strange needed Tony to live so Tony could sacrifice himself and defeat Thanos.

But it was also these events that in turn led to the events depicted in the TV show Loki.

While performing the time travel heist, the 2012 version of Loki is able to stray from his timeline to retrieve all of the time stones.

In LokiTom Hiddleston’s character inadvertently causes the rise of a terrifying character who is certain to be the next Thanos-style villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

If Doctor Strange is to be believed, he knew how everything was going to play out, including the alternate timeline hopping events of Lokiand decided to keep that from his fellow superheroes.

Either that, or he recklessly lied when he said he saw the full result when he gave the Time Stone to Thanos. Or maybe he didn’t thoroughly review each timeline (no judgments – it’s a big job for one person, after all).

Did Doctor Strange lie when he said he saw all possible results of the fight with Thanos?

According to Reddit user Docile_Doggo: “Doctor Strange said he only saw one future where the Avengers ‘won,’ so Strange’s future must also have included Loki stealing the Tesseract.

“Either Doctor Strange just didn’t see all possible futures, Doctor Strange was lying, or a Sacred Timeline where Loki never stole the Tesseract and the Avengers still ‘won’ wasn’t possible from the start.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can be streamed on Disney Plus.
