The Most Amazing Inexpensive Hotel in New Orleans—But It’s Hidden

Ochsner is synonymous with excellent healthcare in Louisiana, but did you know about the hotel located in the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans? Most people don’t.

The Ochsner Medical Center, 1514 Jefferson Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70121 houses a beautiful, elegant hotel called the Brent House Hotel. It’s so tucked away in the Ochsner Medical Center that when asked, many of the employees who worked in the same building said they never knew there was a hotel on the property, and others mentioned that they saw a few signs for the Brent Had seen House Hotel but didn’t know anything more about it. As for the locals, after a quick survey of customers at a popular restaurant across the street from the hotel, 100% of them were unaware of the Brent House Hotel (and they were literally sitting at a diner across the street). .

The Brent House Hotel has little visibility. The major signage for the hotel is hidden deep in a corner behind trees. The sign itself is small and at first glance looks like part of the hospital. Over the years, some locals have confused the small corner entrance with the entrance to the hospital’s emergency room.

The Brent House Hotel opened in 1954 for patients and their families.

The Brent House Hotel opened in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1954 to provide lodging to the general public with an emphasis on meeting the needs of Ochsner Health System patients and their families.

The Brent House Hotel is a beautiful 3 diamond hotel within 5 miles of the French Quarter, Caesars Superdome, Audubon Zoo, New Orleans Museum of Art and the Morial Convention Center.

Given the currently astronomical hotel prices in New Orleans, some popular travel websites (at the time of writing this story) had the Brent House Hotel priced at around $70-$75 with free parking for one night’s accommodation. Nowhere else in the city of New Orleans can you get this level of luxury at such a low price.

Atrium view from third floor room

The air-conditioned atrium is filled with beautiful plants and fountains. As you walk the trails, the mist of water in the air combined with the chill in the air gives the impression of walking through the rainforest (especially at night).

The hotel has been renovated, but old New Orleans charm is still very evident. One almost expects Pete Fountain or Louis Armstrong to leave a room for their next gig. The rooms are fresh and nicely decorated.
