A leafy Grade II listed Eden between Dartmoor and Exmoor with shell houses and hidden glades for romantic tête-à-têtes. Designed by Humphry Repton, the gardens have verdant glades, secret grottos, ancient trees, rose-draped arches, a shell house, a formal parterre and lawns that slope down to the River Tamar. Long corridors, muted tones, and wood-paneled walls adorned with coats of arms lend a collegiate flair, and there are two cozy drawing rooms with roaring fireplaces, ottomans, botanical paintings, plush sofas, and bookshelves stocked with classics. Room five is the most impressive, with a glamorous chaise longue, bird-themed wallpaper, a free-standing bath, and beautiful views.
