The national park is looking for people who are committed to making it welcoming for everyone

The Local Access Forum (LAF) meets twice a year to address issues such as right-of-way improvements, signage, public transport and new cycle paths.

Members of the forum represent three different groups. The first of these are people who use the national park for recreation, including horse riders, cyclists and users of personal mobility vehicles such as scooters and hitchhikers. The second group are those who represent owners or managers of properties in the North York Moors, while a third group represents interests such as history and heritage, or are business owners or community members.

The aim is to ensure that the national park is as welcoming and accessible as possible, whilst ensuring that it is a living and working landscape and a home for endangered plants and wildlife.

There are two vacancies on the forum: one to represent users of rights of way and access to leisure activities and a second to represent “other interests” in the North York Moors, be it health, tourism, education, culture or an alternative sector.

The National Park Service strives to include voices from as many different communities and backgrounds as possible to ensure it delivers for everyone.

For further information or to download an application form, please visit Northyorkmoors.org.uk/jobs or contact Judith Seaton on 01439 772586.

The application deadline is Friday, October 13th (noon). Short informal meetings with shortlisted candidates will take place in Helmsley on Friday 20 October.
