When the tabloids became all about gossip and Perez Hilton launched his website, Beverly Hills’ wealth became visible to all.

This documentary series is bIt’s about the “Bling Ring” heists that took place in 2008-2009 in the wealthy LA suburbs. What was so fascinating about this documentary series is finally hearing what Alexis Neiers went through because her story was reinforced more than the others. Back then, the producers of their reality show thought it would be a good idea to include the ratings scandal, but that ultimately destroyed them. It was interesting to see how it all started with Nick Prugo and his argument sneaking up behind him into the Hollywood Hills.

Once we saw what was going on behind the scenes, everything changed for the story we were watching at the time. Witnessing the real-time shift from tabloids to social media at a young age was hard to digest, especially as these celebrities were undergoing a cosmic change in their lives. In a way, due to the appeal of reality TV stars, reality television ruined much of the fame that came with being a movie star.

Now, even more than before, anyone can become famous after a hit video, and that says a lot about viewer consumption. Society has changed drastically because of social media, and it’s almost like everyone’s personal life is open to everyone, no matter what.
