Mr Smith said the club and chairman were pleased with the reception of the meal, adding he was “flattered” when asked to cater for the clubhouse.

He said: “It was a success, it was very well received by all the fans.”

“Everyone is welcome, we pride ourselves on the freshness of our ingredients and the quality of our products. People can look forward to good food, the good atmosphere and the good vibes that we bring.”

The new venue features artwork by the restaurant’s airbrush artist David Earl, which will be unveiled on Saturday.

Mr Smith said they had bought new tables and chairs to modernize the space and also wanted to add “football-themed arcade machines”.
