The Twitter app has a new chirp sound

A few of us The edge I noticed something new about Twitter’s iOS app: if you swipe down to refresh your feed, you might hear some new sounds. One is a small windup trill that plays when you first swipe the feed, and after your feed has updated you may hear a short confirmation chirp. (Though the sounds are more robotic than any real bird I’ve heard.)

I took a picture like this You can hear what I hear. It’s a little different from the short “pop” you might have heard before while refreshing.

We’re not exactly sure when the change happened, but we first noticed it on Friday afternoon, and we saw a bunch from tweets also about the new chirp from Friday. There are also a handful of tweets that mention a past tweet Few of weekswhich could mean Twitter slowly rolled it out ahead of a bigger release.

This is apparently not an iOS-only change. one edge Employees on Android occasionally hear the second new sound I described, and some of the tweets I found about the chirping were sent out Android.

If you want to hear the noise on your phone yourself, just try swiping feed down to refresh your feed. If you don’t hear it, try closing and reopening the Twitter app (this worked for me) and make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. We’re not sure how far this will be rolled out, so even if you try these steps you might not have the sounds yet.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll update the app to hear the beautiful new sounds again. And again. Maybe just one more time. The last time I promise… The Twitter app has a new chirp sound
