The Vegan Market Co event returns to Darlington Market on 4th June
Darlington Market is hosting the Return of Vegan Market Co (VMCO) event, based on West Row, on June 4th from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
This follows the event’s successful debut last November, while this year will feature vegan street food, artisan baked goods, artisanal cheeses, artisanal cosmetics, ethical clothing and jewellery, crafts and charity stands.

Lewis Beresford, VMCO’s founder, said they look forward to returning to the city and introducing residents to vegan producers.
He said: “We are delighted to be back in Darlington. We work hard to source the country’s leading vegan producers, from street vendors and bakers to ethical clothing and cosmetics manufacturers.
“We also work with many local businesses and can’t wait to give all these amazing producers the platform they deserve and introduce them to the wonderful people of Darlington.”
In addition, Michael Harvey, General Manager of Darlington Markets at Market Asset Management said, “The fact that this interesting and exciting event is returning to Darlington following the success of its first market is a testament to the unwavering support of the people of Darlington.”

“Our commitment is to bring a diverse range of markets, events and entertainment downtown.
“The range of products was amazing last time and I’m sure visitors will be spoiled for choice again.”
Organizers said the products were “developed by a handpicked selection of talented, ethical and sustainable companies.”
The event runs alongside the Darlington Borough Council (DBC) Sustainability Event taking place on 2nd and 3rd June in Market Square.
The aim is to find out how people can influence the future of the world. This includes stalls, shopping, demonstrations and even beekeeping.
This comes after Darlington Market launched The Vault, a 1920’s style bar, and plans were made to redesign the shop front and entrances, a new shop cafe, new public and merchant toilets on the ground floor as well introduce new toilets in the basement.

In addition, the building’s exterior was redesigned with a new black and cream color scheme and a design by local artist and sign writer Ste Robson.
An old walled area has been demolished to create a new glazed space, complemented by a new cafe.
VMCO held its first event in 2016 and now covers over 50 locations across the UK to showcase the country’s ‘best ethical and sustainable producers’ as part of their aim to make veganism accessible and inclusive.
