Tinder Matchmaker allows friends and family to recommend matches

Tinder now officially lets you play Cupid.
The dating app has introduced Tinder Matchmaker, a feature that allows friends and family to access Tinder asynchronously to recommend profiles. Users can invite others, whether they have Tinder or not, to view and suggest potential matches.

The app commissioned a survey of daters (aged 18 to 25) in the UK, Australia and the US and found that 75 percent talk to their friends about their dating life several times a month.
“For years, singles have asked their friends for help finding their next match on Tinder, and now we’re making it so easy with Tinder Matchmaker,” said Melissa Hobley, Chief Marketing Officer at Tinder. “Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey, helping you see the opportunities you may be overlooking from the perspective of the people closest to you.”

How does the function work? Tinder users can share a unique link with up to 15 friends within 24 hours. The link allows the designated matchmaker to access Tinder (either as a user or as a guest) and then has a whole day to recommend profiles to their loved ones.

Friends and family with the link can play matchmaker, but cannot chat or message on behalf of the user. The user can finally discuss the recommendations and decide who likes them.
The feature is already available in several countries: UK, US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand and Vietnam. A global rollout will follow.
