Top rated Valorant teams in NA that missed out

Valorant kicked off its franchise VCT (Valorant Champions Tour) era when Riot Games officially announced the final list of 30 team names. These teams will be contenders for the upcoming VCT 2023 Champions.

Riot has partnered with these teams and will expand the esports scene under one roof. However, not every team has been lucky enough to pass Riot’s rigorous selection process. Big names and high-level teams that weren’t selected for the first franchising list drove their image and position in the Valorant Esports scene down.

This article looks at some of the top North American teams that unfortunately didn’t get a place in the partnership program.

Riot has a strict selection system that filters out anyone with the slightest inadequacy. A deal between Riot Games and a team would bring many benefits to both sides and put pressure on every other team in the region to somehow make the list.

With only 10 spots available for the entire Americas region, it was bound to be such a tragedy that only Riot could choose who to work with.


1) OpTic gaming

Despite OpTic Gaming’s stunning performance at VCT Champion 2022, Istanbul, where they placed second, Riot did not grant them a place in the partnership program.

Riot has indicated that while they appreciate the teams’ performances in recent events, offering the teams a spot on the list is not a determining factor.


2) XSET

XSET is a fairly well-known name on the esports scene in North America. They also have roots in several esports titles. They were also consistent names associated with Valorant across the region. XSET was denied a spot on the franchise list, surprising all XSET fans and supporters.


3) FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan is a highly established organization with a reach across almost every esports title in the world. They are best known in titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, and Overwatch. They have a large number of fans even in their Valorant segment, but sadly didn’t make the list.


4) The Guard

The Guard is also a heavily favored team in the NA region. They have appeared and appeared in multiple Valorant tournaments. The team has a lot of public support and showed great promise even in Reykjavík. It is one of the top rated teams in NA and has yet to be picked by Riot.


5) TSM

TSM is one of the oldest teams to venture into Riot’s popular NA region title. They are among the most recognizable names in the esports scene.

They are best known for their presence in esports titles such as Rainbow Six Siege, Dota2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Despite their great reach and fan support, Riot turned them down for a position in the first franchise list.
